Mental Health Promotion
The Mental Health Promotion program helps professionals and the community to identify mental health problems early, and to connect people to services and support rapidly. This is done to facilitate recovery and improve functioning and quality of life.
The program offers workshops, conferences and presentations on a wide variety of mental health topics to diverse audiences throughout the Kansas City Metro area and across both Kansas and Missouri. These sessions provide practical, usable information, build empathy and understanding, and teach concrete strategies which decrease stigma and promote dignity and respect for persons with mental illness.
The Mental Health Promotion program coordinates media response to local and nationals events, crises and trends related to mental health, wellness and recovery.
Finally, the program provides information regarding mental illnesses, and treatment and recovery options and resources, via the telephone from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, at Health Fairs throughout the community, via the agency website, and through a directory which lists self help and support groups addressing mental health, mental illness and other emotional wellness issues that affect us all.
