Mental Health America of the Heartland currently seeks PAX Community Educators to provide training to parents, guardians and caregivers of children elementary age in school districts across the state of Kansas. The primary focus of training will be to teach parents to utilize evidence-based strategies for children that promote the development of self-regulation, decrease problematic behavior and improve relationships.
Position will be trained in the PAX Tools Community Educator Curriculum virtually by PAXIS Institute.
Responsibilities include presenting to targeted counties and schools/districts; collecting evaluations and documentation of deliverables for grant reporting. Parent sessions are 2.5 hours in length, generally onsite in evenings, and possibly by Zoom. Overnight travel maybe required. Session dates/times, location, travel and materials will be arranged by Project Director.
Training, session, session preparation and travel time paid.
This position is grant funded through September, 2025.
Qualified applicants must have
- 4 years of post-high school education, preferably in Social Services; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly establish rapport with parents, community members and providers.
- Experience working on a team, with demonstrated flexibility, reliability and responsiveness
- Strong self-motivation and organization and basic computer skills
- Experience working with diverse populations/cultural competency, knowledge of child/family dynamics, are preferred. Bilingual/bicultural helpful.
Compensation: $18- $25/hour depending on experience.
