Ms. Lewis is responsible for oversight of all agency programs, finances, operations and personnel, and is the organization's lead policy and systems advocate. She possesses over 25 years of program development, management and implementation experience.
She has worked in the fields of domestic violence, intellectual and developmental disability, family planning, reproductive health and teen pregnancy prevention, mental health and child welfare, and with juvenile delinquents, at-risk youth, and persons with mental illness. She has served as a consultant to the Ohio and Indiana Child Welfare Training programs, as adjunct faculty for the University of Kansas, and currently serves on federal and regional grant review teams and several local boards. She also possesses extensive background in outcome evaluation, community collaboration, and program, project and grants management and has personal and professional experience in cultural diversity and cultural diversity training.
Susan Crain Lewis received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Women’s Studies from Allegheny College, and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington.

As Director of the Child and Youth Mental Health Initiative, Susan shares her own mental wellness journey with students and youth organizations, while encouraging them and providing resources for young people to address their mental health. Susan is also a certified yoga instructor and taps into her own experiences when speaking at conferences and provides numerous workshops on using yoga to relieve the symptoms of anxiety, depression and stress.
Stacy has over 15 years of social service experience and 23 years of experience in the design and delivery of professional and community education. Before her work at MHAH, Stacy was the Senior Continuing Education Program Manager at KU Medical Center for five years developing accredited continuing education programs for physicians, nurses and allied health professionals. She also worked with the UMKC School of Medicine faculty at Truman Medical Center in continuing medical education. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Life Science from Kansas State University, a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Kansas.
April is from Kansas City, Missouri. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix. April has been with the agency since 2013 and has worked in various programs throughout MHAH. April is currently the Director of Advocacy and Recovery where she is responsible for finding ways to build partnerships within the community; to utilize WASAs (Wellness and Support Advocates); to provide supportive services to individuals needing support with doctor appointments, understanding symptoms, identifying healthy coping skills; and much more. April also holds the position as Residential Manager for one of the agency's permanent supportive housing sites.

Whitney has been with Mental Health America of the Heartland as Development Coordinator since 2015. She is responsible for the organization and execution of fundraising and development strategies and events and building relationships with constituents and community partners, as well as developing and implementing the agency’s communication activities. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies from Park University and a Master’s Degree of Public Administration (MPA) with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management from the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC). Whitney currently resides in Kansas City, Missouri with her two dogs.
