Ms. Lewis is responsible for oversight of all agency programs, finances, operations and personnel, and is the organization's lead policy and systems advocate. She possesses over 25 years of program development, management and implementation experience.

She has worked in the fields of domestic violence, mental retardation and developmental disability, family planning, reproductive health and teen pregnancy prevention, mental health and child welfare, and with juvenile delinquents, at-risk youth, and persons with mental illness. She has served as a consultant to the Ohio and Indiana Child Welfare Training programs, and serves as a federal and regional grant review teams, several local boards, and as Adjunct Faculty for the University of Kansas. She also possesses extensive background in outcome evaluation, community collaboration, and program, project and grants management and has personal and professional experience in cultural diversity and cultural diversity training.

Susan Crain Lewis received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Women’s Studies from Allegheny College, and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Ms. Copeland is responsible for the oversight of Mental Health America of the Heartland’s programs and initiatives. Heartland Housing Initiative serves to increase access to permanent, safe, decent, and affordable housing by providing housing options for individuals and families who are disables and/or have special needs. The housing initiative includes the Housing to Homes, Permanent Supportive Housing, and Shelter Plus Care. She also provides oversight to all Advocacy and Recovery Support Program Services and the Education and Prevention programs including Child and Youth Mental Health Initiative and Mental Health Promotion.

Amy has over 14 years of experience in the field of mental health, working in both clinical and administrative positions with adolescents, adults, and serious and persistent mental illness.

She received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Northwest Missouri State University and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila University.

Kate Pankey, BS

Ms. Pankey is responsible for the education of middle and high school students, their families, and the community on the topics of teen mental health and suicide prevention. Kate has worked to support the students and schools of Greater Kansas City for the past 5 years. Before joining Mental Health America of the Heartland, she worked as Manager of Education Services for YouthFriends, where she coordinated the educational programs TeacherTech, Student Internships, and Classroom Speakers and Tours. Prior to YouthFriends, Kate served as Program Manager of Exchange City, an experiential learning program of the Learning Exchange.
Kate received a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Stacy Davis, MA

Ms. Davis is responsible for the design and delivery of professional and community education. Stacy also serves as a member of the Campaign for America's Mental Health and as a Constituency Outreach and Education Partner for the National Institute of Mental Health. Stacy worked previously as the Senior Continuing Education Program Manager at KU Medical Center developing accredited continuing education programs for physicians, nurses and allied health professionals; and with the UMKC School of Medicine faculty at Truman Medical Center in continuing medical education.

Stacy received a Bachelor of Arts in Life Science from Kansas State University and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and a Masters of Arts in Education from the University of Kansas.

Simon Messmer, MSW

Mr. Messmer assists in the execution of HtoH’s strategic plan by acting as a liaison to various community collaborations, and serving as an advisor on supportive housing program development, funding and operations. During his five years at MHAH, Simon has served as the Residential Counselor for Marion Apartments permanent supportive housing program, where he provided direct service to tenants, assisted in program operations, and was responsible for program-related fundraising. He previously worked in a broad range of housing/homelessness programs including those for adolescents, adults with severe developmental disabilities, and children in need of assistance.

Simon received a Bachelors degrees in History and Psychology from Iowa State University and a Masters degree in Social Welfare from the University of Kansas.

Cynthia Saddler, BS

Ms. Saddler is responsible for oversight of all permanent supportive properties, operations and staffing. During her 10 years with MHAH she has worked as a Representative Payee and as Residental Counselor at the agency's first permanent supportive housing site. Cynthia actively serves with the Homeless Services Coalition of Greater Kansas City, and the Greater Kansas City Continuum of Care.

Cynthia received a BS in Social Psychology from Park University.
