Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) Core Training

The University of Kansas Medical Center, School of Medicine in conjunction with the University of Massachusetts Medical School's Center for Tobacco Treatment Research and Training is pleased to announce its Spring 2017 Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) Core Certification Training.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

  • 15 Scholarships available for those who work in behavioral health settings in Wyandotte County
  • Preference given to those who serve diverse communities
  • Must be tobacco-free for six months prior to attending Core Training

The Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) Core Training is an intensive 3 ½ day, evidence-based training program designed for persons who deliver moderate to intensive tobacco treatment services. The curriculum is designed to address a set of core competencies for tobacco treatment specialists defined by the Association for the Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence (ATTUD) www.attud.org. Continuing education credits are available for select disciplines.

The course is designed for health workers who want to master the necessary core competencies for providing evidenced-based treatment for nicotine dependence. The following criteria must be met before attending the core training:

Certificate of Completion for ‘Basic Skills for Working with Smokers’ course

  • Must be completed by February 28, 2017
  • 9 module online course (up to 11 hours)
  • Promotional code to access course will be issued upon successful registration for TTS
