Technology on the Brain

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This continuing education workshop is designed for case managers, social workers, psychologists, therapists, nurses, counselors, and health care workers. The community is welcome to attend.                                           

OVERVIEW: The average household is overrun by technology today, with the intention of efficiency in everyday living. But what impact, if any, does this technology have on social, behavioral, and neurological development? 

OBJECTIVES: After attending this workshop, the participant will be able to:

  • Understand the influence of technology on social development, both positive and negative.
  • Discuss observed behavioral impacts of differing technological media.
  • Learn the latest research on the effect technology has on our neurology.

CONTINUING EDUCATION: Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007. This continuing education provider is approved 3.0 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors. For licensed professionals, please bring license # to the workshop to receive your CEU Certificate of Attendance. 3.0 CEU’s (Certificate of Attendance).

Tyler Staples is a Licensed Master's Level Psychologist in the state of Kansas, as well as a Licensed Master's Addiction Counselor (Training). He has been practicing psychology for six years, both in inpatient as well as outpatient settings. Tyler currently works as a Therapist at Cottonwood Springs Hospital in Olathe, an adjunct professor at Avila University, and a therapist in private practice (staplespsychology.com).
