Bringing Parents and Family Members into the Therapy Process

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This continuing education workshop is designed for case managers, social workers, psychologists, therapists, nurses, counselors, and health care workers. The community is welcome to attend.                                      

OVERVIEW: This program will identify the key role that parents and family members play in the therapeutic process.   Ms Grayson will address challenges of working with family members and will provide tips for encouraging and supporting family members’ participation.

OBJECTIVES: After attending this workshop the participant will be able to:

  • Identify the key role that Parents and Family members’ play in the therapeutic process.
  • Reframe Family patterns as communication.
  • Find optimism when working with Families.
  • Learn tips for encouraging and supporting Parents and Family members.

 CONTINUING EDUCATION: Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007.  This continuing education provider is approved 1.5 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors. For licensed professionals, please bring license # to the workshop to receive your CEU Certificate of Attendance. 1.5 CEU’s (Certificate of Attendance).

 Please complete and return a registration form with payment by May 11, 2018.

Debra Orbuch Grayson is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist, Supervisor, Author and Trainer. She has over 30 years experience working with adolescents, families, and the community to help educate, support and strengthen marital, family and organizational relationships.
